  1. "اللّٰه, the Exalted, has exposed the secrets of the hypocrites in the القُرْآن, revealing their affairs to His servants so that they may be cautious of them and their followers. 2. "حُذَيْفَة, may اللّٰه be pleased with him, heard a man say: "O اللّٰه, destroy the hypocrites." He replied: "O son of my brother, if the hypocrites were destroyed, you would feel lonely on your roads due to the scarcity of travelers.""

  3. "Obligation ceases only upon entering the abode of permanence, Paradise or Hell. Otherwise, obligation occurs in the Barzakh and in the gathering places. For this reason, they are called to prostrate to Him in the standing place, and the believers will prostrate to Him willingly and by choice, while the disbelievers and hypocrites will be prevented from prostrating."

Book 2: The Book of Belief
Imam al-Ghazali · Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din
  1. "It was said to Al-Hasan Al-Basri, "They say there is no hypocrisy today. He replied, "My brother, if the hypocrites were to perish, you would feel lonely on the road." Someone remarked, "If hypocrites had tails, we wouldn't be able to walk on the ground.""

Abu Bakr al-Siddiq
Ibn Kathir · Timeless Classics
  1. "'The martyr shall intercede for seventy of his household' — and I hope that he will begin with me." Among Them: Abdullah ibn Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul The Ansari of the Khazraj, he was among the noblest and most excellent of the Companions. He was present at Badr and at what followed it. His father was the chief of the hypocrites, and no one was harsher toward his father than he; had the Messenger of God given him leave concerning him, he would have struck off his neck."

al-Fawāʾid — Points of Benefit, Volume Two
Ibn al-Qayyim · Timeless Classics
  1. "God, exalted is He, said: "And when they deviated, God made their hearts deviate; and God does not guide the transgressing people." And God, exalted is He, said: "Nay, but what they used to earn has cast a rust over their hearts." So He, glorified be He, informed us that what they earned covered over their hearts and came between them and faith in His signs, so that they said, "Legends of the ancients." And He said, exalted is He, concerning the hypocrites:"

  2. "the manifestations of beauty. A section: and opposing them stands the second party, who said that God, glory be to Him, has condemned the beauty of forms and the fullness of stature and physique. And He said, "How many a generation We destroyed before them, who were finer in furnishings and in outward show" — that is, in wealth and appearances;"

  3. "And God Most High said: God makes firm those who believe with the firm word in the life of this world and in the Hereafter, and God leads astray the wrongdoers, and God does what He wills. And God Most High said: They said, our hearts are wrapped up."

Futūḥ al-Ghayb — Revelations of the Unseen
Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani · Timeless Classics
  1. "And if you are weak in patience or agreement and satisfaction or annihilation, He, the Almighty, does not need to be reminded, for He is not unaware of you or of others. He, the Almighty, feeds the disbelievers, the hypocrites, and those who turn away from Him, so how could He forget you, O believer, monotheist, who turns to His obedience, standing by His command in the watches of the night and the edges of the day?"

  2. "with the tree's weakness, it would wither, leading to disbelief, denial, and alignment with the hypocrites, apostates, and infidels. Unless God Almighty sends to the grateful rich man patience, contentment, certainty, success, knowledge, and various insights, then faith would be strengthened by them, so he would not care about the loss of wealth and luxury."

  3. "And how can one claim Tawhid while associating others with God, when polytheism is disbelief that distances one from the proximity of the Truth, Almighty, and is the trait of the enemy, the accursed devil, and the hypocrites who are destined for the lowest depths of Hell, to dwell therein eternally?"

Imam al-Ghazali · Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din
  1. "And Allah knows that you are His Messenger and bears witness that the hypocrites are indeed liars. This means they proclaim with their words what contradicts their inner beliefs. 2. "They might attend gatherings of knowledge or Quran recitation circles, pretending to be interested in learning, while their real aim is to observe women and boys. These individuals are the most detested hypocrites to Allah because they use obedience to their Lord as a means to commit sin."

  2. "The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The prayers are an expiation for what is between them, as long as major sins are avoided. He also said: "The difference between us and the hypocrites is the witnessing of the Isha and Fajr prayers, which they cannot endure."
