About · Preserving the classical Islamic canon

A thousand years
of scholarship,
audible in every pocket.

Joyful Muslims exists to preserve the classical Islamic scholarly canon — the foundational works of tafsīr, hadith, fiqh, sīrah, kalām, taṣawwuf, and adab that lived for a thousand years in Arabic — by translating them from the original manuscripts, narrating them with care, and releasing them free to the English-speaking Ummah. We are a Denmark-based publisher, but this is not a business. It is a cultural institution. Audio is the vessel. Preservation is the purpose.

Why we exist

The shelf English-speaking Muslims didn't have.

For centuries, the classical library lived in Arabic. Translations came — some scholarly, some rushed, most silent in audio. A generation grew up hearing lectures about al-Ghazali without ever hearing al-Ghazali read aloud. That is the gap we're closing.

Every book in our catalog is translated from a verified classical source — Shamela-indexed manuscripts, cross-checked against the major printed editions. Every narration is professionally produced. Every chapter comes with a Living Manuscript: Arabic original, word-synced English, source citations.
