Futūḥ al-Ghayb — Revelations of the Unseen
Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani · Timeless Classics
  1. "And as long as he does not find support from the Creator, he does not turn to the Creator, the Almighty. Then, if he finds no support from the Creator, he throws himself before Him, persistently asking, entreating, praying, weeping, and expressing need, with fear and hope."

  2. "and ascribe to injustice and poor conduct, accusing yourself of it, for it is more deserving of that, as it is the abode of all evil, commanding every wrongdoing and calamity. Even though God, exalted is He, is the Creator of your actions alongside your acquisition, you are the acquirer and He is the Creator, as some of those who know God, exalted is He, have said:"

  3. "According to their doctrine, man has no power, and actions are only issued by God's power. They are a group who believed that the servant is the creator and originator of his voluntary actions, and that God, the Exalted, has delegated the matter to him, so he does as he wills, and actions are issued by the servant's power alone."

  2. "find it indicative of a life beyond this one, a life more complete. This life, in comparison, is like a dream compared to wakefulness, or like a shadow compared to the person. All of creation echoes the call of its Lord, Creator, and Originator: "O people,"

Volume One
Ibn al-Qayyim · Madārij al-Sālikīn
  1. "Every living being is active, and His being the Creator, Sustainer is a necessity of His life and its requirements. His name "As-Sami'" (The All-Hearing), "Al-Basir" (The All-Seeing) necessitates something heard and seen, and His name "Al-Khaliq" (The Creator) requires a creation, as does "Ar-Raziq" (The Provider), and His name "Al-Malik" (The King) requires a kingdom, management, giving, withholding, benevolence, justice, reward, and punishment."

  2. "الفَاتِحَة includes the affirmation of the Creator, the Almighty, and a rebuttal to those who deny Him by affirming His Lordship over all the worlds. Consider the state of the entire universe, both its upper and lower realms, in all its parts: you will find it testifying to the existence of its Maker, Creator, and Sovereign."

  3. "Despite this, its ignorance is greater than its knowledge, and its injustice is greater than its justice. Therefore, it is fitting for one in such a state to turn to their Creator and Originator, asking Him to protect them from its evil, to grant it piety, and to purify it, for He is the best to purify it."

Abu Bakr al-Siddiq

  1. "If someone recognizes Allah as the Creator, the Maker, the Originator, and the Sustainer, and yet does not love Him, it is due to their ignorance of themselves and their Lord. Love is the fruit of knowledge, diminishing with its absence, weakening with its weakness, and strengthening with its strength."
