Al-Adnaniyyun

Al-adnaniyyun — the Adnani or northern Arabs — are the Arab lineage descending from Ismail's son Adnan, through whom the genealogy runs to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This lineage makes the connection between Ibrahim's prayer — 'Our Lord, raise up among them a messenger from themselves' — and its fulfillment over two thousand years later. Ibn Kathir traces this genealogical chain with care, noting that while the exact number of generations between Adnan and the Prophet ﷺ is disputed among genealogists, the connection itself is universally accepted by Islamic scholarship. Ismail's descendants, through the Adnani line, became the custodians of the Arabian Peninsula and the community from which the final prophet would emerge.
