Al-Hawariyyun
Definition
Al-hawariyyun — the disciples — were the close companions and supporters of Isa who declared 'We are helpers of Allah' when he asked who would support him in his mission. The Quran presents them as models of faithful support for prophetic mission, and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ called on his companions to be like the Hawariyyun in their devotion. Ibn Kathir records that despite the crucifixion crisis — which scattered and confused many followers — the core of the Hawariyyun maintained faith in the truth of Isa's mission. Their role in Islamic history is both honored and bounded: they were the faithful companions of a prophet, not the founders of a new religion, and their testimony points toward the message of tawhid that Isa himself delivered.
