Al-Wakiliyyah
Al-wakiliyyah is the relational aspect of tawakkul — the relationship between the one who trusts (the mutawakkil) and the One entrusted (Al-Wakil, one of God's names meaning 'The Trustee' or 'The Disposer of Affairs'). Al-Ghazali draws on this divine name to show that tawakkul is not a leap into the void but a deliberate placing of one's affairs in the hands of the Most Competent, Most Powerful, Most Caring Manager of all things. The one who truly knows God as Al-Wakil does not merely hope He will manage things well — they know it with a certainty as solid as their knowledge that fire is hot.
As understood in the classical tradition of Imam al-Ghazali and the scholars of his school.
