ʿAqīda
Definition
ʿAqida refers to the set of foundational beliefs that every Muslim must hold with firm certainty — the binding doctrines that define the boundaries of the faith. These include belief in Allah, His angels, His revealed books, His messengers, the Last Day, and divine decree in both its good and its seemingly difficult aspects. Al-Ghazali presents the ʿaqida not as a list to be memorised for examination but as the architecture of a worldview that, when properly inhabited, transforms how the believer understands every event and every moment of their life.
