Israʾiliyyat
إسرائِيلِيَّاتDefinition
Reports about pre-Islamic prophets and nations transmitted from Jewish and Christian sources. Ibn Kathir treats them with critical care: accepting what is corroborated by Qur'an or sahih hadith, rejecting what contradicts revelation, and treating the rest as suspended — neither affirmed nor denied.
As understood in the classical tradition of Ibn Kathir and the scholars of his school.
