Kasb
Definition
Kasb is the earning of livelihood through legitimate means — trade, craft, agriculture, professional service, or any other lawful form of work. Al-Ghazali argues that kasb is an act of worship when it is performed with the right intention: not merely the accumulation of wealth for its own sake, but the fulfilment of one's obligation to provide for oneself and one's dependents so that they can worship Allah without destitution. The person who works honestly and moderately, with the intention of supporting their family and avoiding becoming a burden to others, is engaged in an act of worship for every hour they work.
