Lut

Lut was the prophet sent to the people of the city known in Biblical tradition as Sodom — a nephew of Ibrahim who settled in the region of the Jordan valley and received prophethood to guide a civilization that had descended into practices the Quran describes with unambiguous severity. Ibn Kathir narrates Lut's story with the restraint appropriate to its subject: a prophet who could not save his own wife, who watched his guests be threatened by the very people he was trying to guide, and who ultimately witnessed the total destruction of the community he had spent his life serving. His story is one of the Quran's clearest demonstrations that the measure of prophetic success is faithfulness, not results.
