Nubuwwa
Definition
Nubuwwa is the doctrine of prophethood — Allah's selection of specific human beings to receive divine revelation and convey it to humanity. Al-Ghazali defends the rational necessity and the historical reality of prophethood, arguing that human reason alone cannot arrive at the detailed moral and spiritual guidance that life requires. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the seal of all prophets, and his example — preserved in the Sunna — is the living commentary on the revealed scripture. Accepting his authority in all matters, great and small, is part of complete iman.
