Tajallī
Definition
Tajalli is the third and culminating phase — the illumination of the heart that occurs naturally when takhalli and tahalli have been sustained long enough. When the heart has been emptied of its major vices and filled with its corresponding virtues, it begins to experience the direct manifestations of divine light that al-Ghazali has described throughout the Ihya: the intuitive knowledge, the spiritual sensitivity, the continuous awareness of Allah's presence, and the peace that comes from genuine alignment between the heart's orientation and the divine will. Tajalli cannot be manufactured directly — it is the fruit of the two preceding phases.
