From The Book of Belief.

  1. "nor a letter that ceases with the closing of lips or movement of a tongue. The Quran, Torah, Gospel, and Psalms are His revealed books upon His messengers, peace be upon them. The Quran is recited by tongues, written in volumes, and memorized in hearts, yet it is ancient, existing with the essence of God. Moses, peace be upon him, heard the speech of God without sound or letter, just as the righteous will see the essence of God in the hereafter without substance or quality."

    — Imam al-Ghazali, Book 2: The Book of Belief

  2. "Therefore, it must be strengthened and deeply rooted in the child's soul. To reinforce this belief, one should not focus on teaching argumentation but rather engage in the recitation and interpretation of the Quran, and the study of hadiths and their meanings. Continuous acts of worship help solidify belief through the Quran's resonances, the evidence in hadiths, the radiance of worship, and the influence of observing the righteous."

    — Imam al-Ghazali, Book 2: The Book of Belief

  3. "Principle Eight: The knowledge of God and obedience to Him are obligatory due to God's decree and law, not by reason, contrary to the Muʿtazilites. If reason obligates obedience, it cannot do so without a purpose, which is impossible, as reason does not dictate futility. If it obligates it for a purpose, it cannot return to the worshipped entity, as is impossible for God, who is beyond needs and benefits."

    — Imam al-Ghazali, Book 2: The Book of Belief
