Al-Ākhir

How the scholars invoke Al-Ākhir.

1. "I prostrated myself before his feet and asked him to grant me a cap from his head and to permit me this as his father had authorized him by his own teachers. So he placed it on me on the fourteenth of Jumada al-Akhir in the year 7 and 2700, equivalent to 1327 CE, in his aforementioned zawiyah. As he had worn from his father Shams al-Din, who wore from his father Taj al-Din Mahmud, who wore from his father Shihab al-Din Ali al-Rajah, and Ali from Imam Shihab al-Din Abu Hafs Omar ibn Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Suhrawardi, and Omar from the Grand Sheikh Diya al-Din Abu al-Najib al-Suhrawardi, and Abu al-Najib from his uncle the Imam Wahid al-Din Omar,"

2. "Initially, both the resident and the traveler prayed two rak'ahs. This change occurred after the Prophet, peace be upon him, arrived in Medina, one month after the twelfth night of Rabi al-Akhir. Al-Waqidi noted that there was no disagreement among the people of Hijaz on this matter. Now regarding the hadith reported by al-Bukhari, it is narrated from Aisha that, the prayer was initially prescribed as two rak'ahs, and the prayer for the traveler was confirmed while two rak'ahs were added for the resident."

3. "Khalid is the man for it. So he sent for Khalid, who reached them in Rabi al-Akhir. Upon Khalid's arrival, Mahan came up as a reinforcement for the Byzantines, accompanied by priests, deacons and monks urging them on and inciting them to fight for the victory of the Christian religion. Thus the Byzantine army reached its full strength of two hundred and forty thousand: eighty thousand chained together with iron and ropes, eighty thousand horsemen, and eighty thousand foot soldiers."

4. "from the valley of Yanbu, where he stayed during Jumadah al-Awwal and several nights of Jumadah al-Akhir, and he made a peace treaty with Banu Mudhij and their allies. Bani Damrah then returned to Medina without encountering any opposition. It is narrated that Abdullah said, I was next to Zayd ibn Arqam when he was asked, How many battles did the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him engage in? He replied, Nineteen. I asked him, How many battles did you participate in with him?"
