"said, O Khalifa, visit us. So he journeyed to the noble city of Medina, entered the esteemed mosque through Bab al-Salam, greeted the mosque, and saluted the messenger of God, peace be upon him. He sat leaning against one of the pillars of the mosque with his head on his knees, which the Sufis call the companionable position. When he lifted his head, he found four loaves, a bowl of milk, and a dish of dates. He and his companions ate, then he returned to Alexandria without performing hajj that year. Among them too was the devout, ascetic, and humble scholar Burhan al-Din al-Araj, one of the great ascetics"

"If you swore by Allah, He would fulfill it for you, so swear by your Lord. He said: I swear by You, O Lord, grant us victory over them, and he mentioned the hadith. Abd al-Salam ibn Mutahhar narrated to us from Abu Sahl al-Basri, from Muhammad ibn Sirin, from Anas: He entered upon his brother Al-Bara' while he was singing, and said: Are you singing? He replied: Do you fear that I will die on my bed when I have killed ninety-nine men from the polytheists in duels, not counting those I participated with the Muslims?"

"Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them. To the east of the noble mosque was the house of Imam Malik bin Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, and close to the Bab al-Salam was a water facility, with steps leading down to it, known as the Blue Spring. The time of beginning the construction of the noble mosque, the messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, arrived in the blessed city of Medina, the abode of migration, on a Monday night, the 13th of Rabi al-Awwal."

"and it is believed that some content in Ibn Mas'ud's Mushaf was abrogated. Zayd was present at the final review of the Qur'an with the Prophet and Gabriel. Abd al-Salam ibn Harb narrated that Abu al-Darda questioned why Ibn Mas'ud opposed the leaders, despite being considered compassionate. In a gathering, Ibn Mas'ud expressed hope that among his companions were some of the best in terms of religion, knowledge of the Qur'an, and understanding."
