Shuʿayb ﷺ

"There is some debate about the identity of this elder. Many, including al-Hasan al-Basri and Malik ibn Anas, believe he was Shuayb, peace be upon him. Some suggest that Shuayb lived a long life after his people's destruction and met Moses, who married his daughter. Others propose he was Shuayb's nephew, cousin, or a believer from Shuayb's people. Some sources, including ibn Abbas, identify him as Yithrun, the priest of Madian. After Moses was welcomed and honored, one of the daughters suggested to her father, O my father, hire him, praising Moses as strong and trustworthy. When asked how she knew this, she explained that Moses"

"daughter. Ibn Abi Hatim and others narrated from al-Hassan al-Basri that the companion of Moses, peace be upon him, was named Shuayb and he was the master of the water but not the prophet of Midian. It was also said that he was the son of Shuayb's brother or his cousin or another man, a believer from the people of Shuayb and it was said a man named Yathrun."

"It is narrated in an elevated hadith that he wept out of love for Allah until he became blind, and Allah restored his sight. He was asked, O Shuayb, do you cry out of fear of the fire or longing for Paradise? He replied, Rather, it is from my love for you. When I look at you, I do not care what happens to me. Allah then revealed to him, Congratulations, O Shuayb, for seeing Me."

"to them, a view chosen by Ibn Jarir and others. Others believe it is the name of the mountain where their cave is located. Ibn Abbas and Shuayb al-Jabayi, also known as Banajlus, mentioned that it is the name of a valley near their cave. Others have said it is the name of a village there, and Allah knows best. Shuayb al-Jabayi stated that their dog was named Hamran."

"So the earthquake seized them, and they became lifeless in their homes. Those who denied Shuayb became as though they had never prospered therein. Those who denied Shuayb were indeed the losers. He turned away from them and said, O my people, I have indeed conveyed to you the messages of my Lord and advised you, so how should I grieve over a disbelieving people?"

"Sodomy is an inheritance from the people of Lot. Taking more than one's right and giving less is an inheritance from the people of Shuayb. Tyranny and corruption on earth are an inheritance from Pharaoh and his people. Arrogance and oppression are an inheritance from the people of Hud. Thus the sinner adopts the ways of these nations, who are enemies of God. It is narrated that God revealed to a prophet from the children of Israel to tell his people, Do not enter the places of my enemies, do not wear the clothing of my enemies, do not ride the vehicles of my enemies, and do not eat the food of my enemies, lest you become my enemies as they are."

"In Tiberias, there is a mosque known as the Mosque of the Prophets, where it is said the graves of Shuayb, peace be upon him, his daughter, the wife of Moses, the speaker with God, peace be upon him, Solomon, peace be upon him, Judah, and Reuben, peace be upon them, are located. From there we visited the well into which Joseph, peace be upon him, was thrown. It is in the courtyard of a small mosque with a corner. The well is large and deep. We drank from its water, which is collected from rainwater, and the caretaker told us that the water also springs from it. Next, we traveled to the city of Beirut, which is small and has beautiful markets."
