Zakariyyā ﷺ

"They earned their livelihood through their labor, and did not accumulate wealth to leave behind. This understanding is clear to those who reflect and contemplate. It is narrated that Zechariah was a carpenter, as mentioned by the messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Then Allah gave Zechariah the good news, O Zechariah, indeed we give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John."

"They cast lots a second time, throwing their pens into the river, and Zechariah's pen flowed against the current. A third time they cast lots, and again Zechariah's pen prevailed. Thus he became her guardian, being more deserving of her both legally and in destiny. Allah Almighty said, Whenever Zechariah entered upon her in the sanctuary, he found provision with her."

"It was then said, Where is the martyr, son of the martyr, who wears coarse wool and eats from trees out of fear of sin? This refers to John, son of Zechariah. This has been narrated by Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who is known for concealment, from Yahya ibn Zayd al-Ansari, from Zayd ibn al-Musaib, who said that Ibn al-As informed him that he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say, Every child of Adam will come on the Day of Judgment bearing a sin, except for what was with John, son of Zechariah."

"The decrees supported Zechariah, and his lot prevailed because the aunt is considered like a mother. Allah Almighty said, And Zechariah became her guardian, indicating that he prevailed over them in the casting of lots. Allah said, That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, and you were not with them when they cast their pens to see who would be responsible for Maryam, nor were you with them when they were disputing."

"He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be one of the righteous. It is narrated similarly about Zechariah, Zechariah, peace be upon him, that he asked her, and she responded in the same manner, Allah knows best. Al-Sudhi mentioned through his chain from the companions that Maryam entered one day upon her sister, and her sister said to her, Did you feel that I am pregnant?"

Peace be upon them, and before Zechariah and John, peace be upon them. Among them was Shia ibn Amziyya. Muhammad ibn Ishaq said that he was before Zechariah and John, and gave glad tidings of Jesus and Muhammad."

"guided as we had guided Noah before, and from his descendants, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron. Thus do we reward the virtuous. And Zechariah, John, Jesus, and Elias, all were of the righteous. Ishmael, Alyasa, Eunice, and Lut were also favored above all the worlds, as well as some among their fathers, descendants, and brothers. They were chosen and guided to a straight path. The pronoun in from his descendants refers to Abraham, according to the well-known view. Lut, though the son of his brother, is included among the descendants by convention. This leads another opinion to suggest the pronoun refers to Noah, as indicated in his story,"
