Al-Ḥamīd

How the scholars invoke Al-Ḥamīd.

1. "it down, then Uthman came with a stone and placed it down, the messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him said, these are the leaders of the matter after me. Then it was narrated from the hadith of Yahya ibn Abd al-Hamid al-Himani from Hashraj from Said from Safina. He said, when the messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, built the mosque, he placed a stone, then he said, let Abu Bakr place a stone next to my stone, then let Umar place his stone next to Abu Bakr's stone, then let Uthman place his stone next to Umar's stone, the messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him said, these are the caliphs after me."

2. "sala. He had gathered the sheikhs, judges, jurists, noblemen, and the poor and had prepared abundant food. We broke our fast in his presence. The noble Sayyid, the head of the noblemen, Ibn Abd al-Hamid, and Judge Hamza spoke well of me and recommended to the Sultan to honor me. These Turks do not understand provisioning guests with allowances. Instead, they send sheep and horses for slaughter and containers of fermented mare's milk as their form of hospitality. Days later, I performed the asr sala with the Sultan. When I intended to leave, he ordered me to stay. They brought food"

3. "Amr ibn Shabba al-Numayri related to me: Ali ibn Muhammad, that is al-Mada'ini, related to us, from Abu Ma'shar and Yazid ibn Iyad, from Ja'da, and from Ghassan ibn Abd al-Hamid and Juwayriya ibn Asma, from their elders, who said: Abu Bakr dispatched the army of Usamah ibn Zayd at the end of Rabi' al-Awwal, and news of the slaying of al-Aswad arrived at the end of Rabi' al-Awwal, after Usamah had set out; and that was the first conquest that Abu Bakr achieved while he was in Madinah."

4. "It was later printed in Cairo under the same title. The title, The Disease and the Cure, was used in a later edition by Sheikh Muhammad Muhib Al-Din Al-Hamid. However, the original title remained popular due to its rhyme. The author did not name the book in his introduction, nor did he refer to it in his other books. The oldest mention of it by his student Hafiz Ibn Rajab called it, The Disease and the Cure."
