Al-Khāliq

How the scholars invoke Al-Khāliq.

1. "He did not, from the time He created creation, gain the name al-Khaliq, nor did He, by His bringing the creatures into being, gain the name al-Bari He possesses the meaning of Lordship (rububiyyah) while there was no one under lordship, and the meaning of Creator (al-Khaliq) while there was no creation. And just as He is the Reviver of the dead after He gives life, He deserved this name before He revived them, so too He deserved the name Creator before He created them."

2. "His name "Al-Hakim" (The Wise) must have a context in which His wisdom is manifested, as the necessity of these names for their effects is like the necessity of the name "Al-Khaliq" (The Creator), "Ar-Raziq" (The Provider), "Al-Mu'ti" (The Giver), "Al-Mani'" (The Withholder) for the created, the provided, the given, and the withheld."

"His name "As-Sami'" (The All-Hearing), "Al-Basir" (The All-Seeing) necessitates something heard and seen, and His name "Al-Khaliq" (The Creator) requires a creation, as does "Ar-Raziq" (The Provider), and His name "Al-Malik" (The King) requires a kingdom, management, giving, withholding, benevolence, justice, reward, and punishment."
