Duʿāʾ inside the prayer (ṣalāh)

The prayer itself is built of supplication. These are the words the Prophet ﷺ said at its opening, between the takbīr and the recitation, and in the sitting of the tashahhud — recorded in the ṣaḥīḥ collections.

The opening supplication of prayer After takbīr, before al-Fātiḥah

"Glory is to You, O Allah, and praise. Blessed is Your name, and exalted is Your majesty. There is no god besides You."

Allāhumma bāʿid — after takbīr Alternative opening supplication

"O Allah, distance me from my sins as You have distanced the east from the west. O Allah, cleanse me of my sins as a white garment is cleansed of dirt."

"All greetings, prayers, and pure words are for Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger."
