Sūrat al-Fātiḥah holds a central place in the believer's prayer and devotions, as the cited passages show. Al-Ghazali, in the Iḥyāʾ, treats its recitation as the heart of the rakʿah — cautioning against joining the recitation too closely to the opening takbīr or to the bowing, and noting that some worshippers become overwhelmed by obsessive scruples about pronouncing its letters correctly.
