Fear Allah as He should be feared

"In Surah Ash-Shuara, he the exalted said, The people of Noah denied the messengers when their brother Noah said to them, Will you not fear Allah? Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger, so fear Allah and obey me. And I do not ask you for at any payment. My reward is only from the Lord of the worlds, so fear Allah and obey me. They said, Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowliest? He said, And what do I know of what they used to do? Their account is only upon my Lord, if you but perceive. And I am not one to drive away the believers. I am not but a clear warner. They said, If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned."

"the she-camel as a clear sign, but they wronged her. And we do not send the signs except as warning. And he the exalted said in Surah Ash-Shu'ara, Thamud denied the messengers when their brother Salih said to them, Will you not fear Allah? Indeed I am to you a trustworthy messenger, so fear Allah and obey me. And I do not ask you for it any payment. My reward is only from the Lord of the worlds. Will you be left in what is here, secure, in gardens and springs and crops and palm trees with softened fruit, and you carve out of the mountains homes skillfully? So fear Allah and obey me. And do not obey the order of the"

"Thamud denied the messengers when their brother Salih said to them, Will you not fear Allah? Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger, so fear Allah and obey me. And I do not ask you for it any payment. My reward is only from the Lord of the worlds. Do you think you will be left secure in that which is here, among gardens and springs and crops and date palms with soft stems? And you hew out of the mountains, houses skillfully, so fear Allah and obey me. And do not obey the order of the transgressors who cause corruption in the land and do not reform. They said, You are only of those bewitched,"

"from a single soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another and the wombs. Indeed, Allah is ever over you an observer. O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims. O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. He will then amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment."

"He said, "O Abu Muhammad, what do you need? Ata replied, "O Commander of the Faithful, fear Allah concerning the sanctities of Allah and His Messenger. Maintain them, and fear Allah concerning the children of the Muhajireen and the Ansar, for it is through them that you sit on this seat. Fear Allah concerning the people of the frontiers, for they are the fortress of the Muslims."

"and whoever disobeys them, only harms himself and does not harm Allah at all. O who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die, except as Muslims. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another and the wombs. Indeed, Allah is ever, over you, an observer. O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice."

"If its strength increases, it also refrains from things possibly forbidden, even if not certainly so. This is called God-consciousness (taqwa), which entails avoiding what causes doubt in favor of what does not. It may lead a person to abandon permissible things for fear of impermissible ones, embodying truth in taqwa."

"yet another guidance, without limit. So every time the servant grows in awe of his Lord he ascends to a further guidance; he is in increasing guidance so long as he is in increasing God-consciousness. And every time he loses a step of God-consciousness, he loses a share of guidance to match it. The more mindful he is, the more his guidance grows; and the more he is guided, the more his mindfulness grows. God Most High said: There has come to you from God a light and a clear Book, by which God guides whoever follows His good pleasure to the paths of peace, and brings them out of the darknesses into the light by His leave, and guides them to a straight path."

"Allah, the Exalted, says, Indeed it is only those who have knowledge among his servants who fear Allah. This refers to those who have knowledge of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. Ibn Abbas said, This means that only those among my creation who know my might, glory and authority fear me. Mujahid and al-Shaabi said, The scholar is the one who fears Allah. Al-Rabi ibn Anas said, Whoever does not fear Allah is not a scholar. Allah, the Exalted, also says, Indeed those who conceal what we have revealed of clear proofs and guidance after we made it clear for the people in the Book, they are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse."

"narrated that he was a tailor. Luqman advised his son, O my son, make obedience to Allah your trade and you will receive profits without any merchandise. He also said, O my son, fear Allah and do not let the people think that you fear Allah in order for them to honor you while your heart is corrupt. Luqman was known as a black slave and a carpenter. His master once asked him to slaughter a sheep and bring the two best pieces. Luqman brought the tongue and the heart. When asked to throw away the two worst pieces, he again chose the tongue and the heart. He explained, there is nothing better than them if they are"

"the end of their plan that we destroyed them and their people altogether? So their houses lie in ruins because they wronged themselves. Indeed in that is a sign for people who know, and we saved those who believed and used to fear Allah. And Allah said in Surah Fusilat, As for Thamud, we guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance. Thus the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn. And we saved those who believed and used to fear Allah. And Allah said in Surah Al-Kamar, Thamud denied the warnings and said, Is it someone from among us that we should"

"And he, the exalted, said in Surah al-Shu'ara, The people of Lot denied the messengers when their brother Lot said to them, Will you not fear Allah? Indeed I am to you a trustworthy messenger, so fear Allah and obey me, and I do not ask you for any reward. My reward is only from the Lord of the worlds. Do you approach males among the worlds and leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? Rather, you are a transgressing people. They said, If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted. He said, Indeed I am toward your deed, of those who detest."

"houses desolate because they wronged, indeed inba'an na'ap wudhifthalat is a sign, for a people who know, and we saved those who believed, and used to fear Allah. And he, exalted, says in Surah Fusilat, And as for Thamud, we guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance. So the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn, and we saved those who believed and used to fear Allah. And he, exalted, says in Surah Al-Qamar, Thamud denied the warnings. And they said, Is it one human being among us that we should follow him?"

"and they hinder from the way of Allah, and Allah is encompassing of what they do. When the devil adorned their deeds and promised victory, he later abandoned them, saying, Indeed, I am disassociated from you, indeed I see what you do not see, indeed I fear Allah, and Allah is severe in punishment. This is similar to his saying, The example of Satan is like that of a man when he said to a human, Disbelieve, but when he disbelieved he said, Indeed, I am disassociated from you, indeed I fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds."

"This was recorded by Abu Mansur Al-Daylami from Al-Husain bin Ali bin Abi Talib with a weak chain. The hadith reports that one of the last instructions given by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was: "Fear Allah in regard to what your right hands possess. Feed them from what you eat. Abu Dawood narrated from Ali that the last words of the Messenger of Allah were: "The prayer, the prayer, fear Allah in regard to what your right hands possess."

"his parents, including their love for him and his filial piety towards them. As for Zakat, it signifies purity of character and freedom from imperfections and vices. Taqwa, or God-consciousness, refers to obedience to Allah by following His commands and avoiding His prohibitions. Now, consider Yahya's kindness to his parents and his obedience to them, both in commands and prohibitions, and his avoidance of disobedience in word and deed."

"When Iblis, may Allah curse him, saw the angels descending for victory and witnessed Gabriel, he turned on his heels and said, Indeed, I am disassociated from you, indeed I see what you do not see, indeed I fear Allah. This is like his saying, The example of Satan is like that of a man when he said to a human, Disbelieve, but when he disbelieved he said, Indeed, I am disassociated from you, indeed I fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds."
