Fear Allah as He should be feared
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ
"O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims."
Context
A verse the Prophet ﷺ used to recite in every Jumuʿah khuṭbah. Ibn Masʿūd commented: to fear Him as He should be feared means to be obeyed, not disobeyed; to be remembered, not forgotten; to be thanked, not denied.
