I am near — answering the call of the caller
وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ
"And when My servants ask you about Me — indeed, I am near. I respond to the call of the caller when he calls upon Me."
Context
Unique among verses of the Qurʾan in that Allah speaks of Himself in the first person without an intermediary. Revealed in answer to a companion who asked: is our Lord near or far?
Virtue
The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Duʿāʾ is worship.' This is the verse that makes every supplication a direct audience.
