al-Fātiḥah 1:6

Guide us to the straight path

اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ

"Guide us to the straight path."

— al-Fātiḥah 1:6

Context

The central petition of the prayer the Muslim recites at least seventeen times a day. The classical scholars treated this verse as the plea on which every act of worship depends.

Virtue

Ibn Taymiyyah wrote that the believer's deepest need — greater than food or air — is guidance in every moment.
