There is no compulsion in religion

لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ ۖ قَد تَّبَيَّنَ الرُّشْدُ مِنَ الْغَيِّ

"There shall be no compulsion in religion. The right course has become distinct from the wrong."

Context

One of the most cited verses in any discussion of religious freedom in Islam. Ibn Kathīr and al-Qurṭubī both treated it extensively in their tafsīr.
